Rock’n'Roll Barbie 3

An Alternative Gathering are chuffed to be back for our now monthly residency down in “The Woods”, a venue so cool that penguins roam freely amongst you!

The Bleach Boys – Formed in Hitchin in 1977 and originally called the Fur Coughs. The best way to describe the BLEACH BOYS is very loud and very fast.

The Scavengers – 4 piece rock’n'roll band from Brighton playing the stuff they like the way they like it! Influenced by rockabilly, psychobilly and punk.

Junko Fuse – Real balls to the wall, no intention of making it “big”, non-pretentious, in your face, no thrills Punk from London!

Ming City Rockers bring Riot & Ruination

An Alternative Gathering are pleased to present Immingham’s finest (and only) export – Ming City Rockers.

Ming City Rockers – “Ming City R*ckers are the best rock ‘n’ roll band ever to come out of Immingham” and he could well be right. There’s 4 of them, they like 3 chords, 2 they like better. Ming City R*ckers Riot Rock Ruination.

The Blue Carpet Band – Powerhouse five-piece dirty garage punk rock’n'rollers based in North London. Sounds like classic blues-rock proponents such as The Yardbirds and early Rolling Stones mixing it up with early New York punk, The Cramps and The Stooges.

Starsha Lee – “An inconvenient sound for inconvenient people”. Comprising the unique vocals of Sofia de Oliveira Martins and the distinctive dirty guitars of Crispin Gray. A dirty, scuzzy, wrong-in-a-good-way type of band.

Inglourious Thundercunts – Like a band of brothers with a sister, their filthy blend of punk and rock and roll has been disgusting and enthralling confused gig goers in equal measure.

Chris Clavin of Ghost Mice, Evans the Death. All We Got is Each Other – Fundraiser for Punk4MentalHealth – Event: https://www.facebook.com/events/1239734839428215/

A special day show featuring Chris Clavin of Ghost Mice, with Special Guests Evans the Death. The show is a fundraiser for Punk4MentalHealth.

Chris Clavin plays guitar, sings and writes songs for the iconic American folk punk band Ghost Mice, and has also recorded and performed solo work as Captain Chaos. Chris is the founder of Plan-it-X Records, the seminal record label that has released music from AJJ (Andrew Jackson Jihad), This Bike is a Pipe Bomb, Ramshackle Glory, Martha and many, many more. He has written two books on life in the punk community (“Free Pizza for Life” and “Cursed in Cairo.”) On this special occasion, he will be singing a selection of songs and telling stories that roughly address themes of mental health in the punk community. www.plan-it-x.com

Evans the Death will also be performing. Evans the Death is an English six-piece band that filters their pop sensibilities through an art-damaged post punk lens. Formed in London in 2011 and a fixture on the British live scene for years, their newest record, Vanilla, was released by Fortuna Pop! in 2016 and is an aggressive and adventurous exploration of sound and words. Firmly established as a key part of the modern U.K. post punk movement, Evans the Death has been described by Rolling Stone magazine as “raw emotion [that] injects paralysis with weird power;” and by Q magazine as “manag[ing] to make humdrum everyday existence sound quite magical.” Evans the Death will be performing a stripped-back, quieter set for this unique day show. https://www.facebook.com/evansthedeath/

This show is a fundraiser for the London-based organization Punk4MentalHealth. Punk4MentalHealth focuses on the punk community and spearheads medical research regarding matters of coping with mental health issues, specifically those existing in the punk community, including those arising from physical disabilities. Ultimately, the organization seeks to understand those who are suffering, and help to improve the quality of their lives and reduce disenfrachisement from access and appropriate treatment both within and outside the mental health system.
