Please join us on Awakening Compassion demo in London.
Please click “Going” ONLY if you really intend to come, if you support the demo but can not come in person click “Interested”. This will make the planning easier for us Thank you!
We will be holding beautiful pictures of animals with the messages which will hopefully make some/many people think.
If you never got involved in a vegan outreach because you did not want to shout, this demo is for you. It is static, respectful and silent.
You can either hold a placard or distribute leaflets to the public passing by. The demo will be silent. The more people there, the more powerful the message. Imagine how powerful it will become when we have 100 or 200 people standing together!
I would like to ask those of you who decide to hold the placards not to engage in discussions with the public. Everyone interested in our message can discuss the concerns with people leafleting.
Those of us who decide to give the leaflets to the public please engage in discussion with the deepest respect to other people’s beliefs regardless the fact how different they can be to ours. Before coming to the demo please get ready to hear: “I love my bacon” “animals have no souls” “I eat animals because they are so tasty” “I love dogs but choose to eat pigs”, etc. etc. I know these comments hurt us but each time we start an argument we do a disservice to our cause. We can agree that we disagree and go to talk to people who are interested in our message and are ready to hear it and I guarantee you there are plenty of those people.
During the demos we will be distributing leaflets such as Animal Aid’s “Friends or Food” or The Vegan Society’s “Why Vegan?”
Please send RSVP only if you intend to come and in case something changes change your RSVP or send me a message that you cannot make it.
Hope to see you soon,
PS. If you want to know more please send a message via Facebook in the first instance.

*** We’ll soon be announcing a diverse range of speakers addressing the demonstration. Paul Mason, Caroline Lucas, Owen Jones, and Amelia Womack are confirmed. Watch this space ***

On December 5th, Nigel Farage will march on the Supreme Court to demand that the power to implement Article 50 is taken away from Parliament and handed back to Theresa May. He will be joined by fascist groups like the English Defence League (EDL) and Britain First.
We believe Farage’s demands threaten parliamentary democracy and the rule of law. In this country it is parliament – not the Prime Minister – that has the power to make and repeal law.
We must act now to defend democracy and say that no one, including the Prime Minister, should be above the constitution. The attacks on the High Court judges by parts of the media have also been bigoted, divisive and, in one case, even homophobic.
We will be there to stand against Farage. We are for an alternative to the nightmarish future of Donald Trump, Nigel Farage and the rising tide of racism and authoritarianism. We are for a world run in the interests of people and the planet.
Another Europe is Possible is calling for a mass, peaceful gathering outside the Supreme Court to defend democracy and say no to hate. The government’s desire to prevent parliament from having a say over Article 50 is undemocratic and sets a dangerous precedent.
Whatever way you voted in the referendum, come together to say these bigoted attacks on judges by the media are a threat to our democracy and that Parliament must have a say on Brexit.
We live in dark times. It is our duty to light a candle and fight back.
Take the day off work.
