Our reading group will continue on the 3rd Tuesday of the month, aka 21st August 7pm at Freedom Bookshop. This month we’re looking at culture, power and consumerism with the following texts on Situationism and the well decent band, Crass, in an article confusingly written by someone called Cross. Cross on Crass, then.

Debord: Decomposition: The Ultimate Stage of Bourgeois Thought, In: Report on the Construction of Situations, p.6 (https://theanarchistlibrary.org/library/guy-debord-report-on-the-construction-of-situations.pdf)

Asomvel, Stiletto Farm, Flash House FREE ENTRY

Proudly presented by The Fighting Cocks Bar & Live Music Venue and Bangers Embrace Presents

Asomvel
A Dream To Some…A Nightmare To Others.

These guys calmly walk on, bludgeon your senses with a baseball bat and then retire to the bar, leaving you with what’s left of your mind in a pool in your pants.

“The best heavy metal has plenty of dirt under its fingernails: this lot must never be allowed to work in a food preparation area.” – Dom Lawson, The Guardian

Stiletto Farm
The last wish of a fallen friend, Stiletto Farm is ‘The most pissed off band in the world’. Taking the best the past has to offer; Elvis, Twisted Sister, The Damned, and everything in between, Stiletto Farm’s cuttingly relevant lyrics, create powerful anthems that shout out for the angry and misunderstood.

FLASH HOUSE
Loud, fast and aggressive. You know what they do and its an absolute pleasure to have them back at The Cocks.

Bandits! Just Say Nay, Smiling Ivy, Boogedy Smak

Presented by The Fighting Cocks Bar & Live Music Venue and Bangers Embrace Presents

Bandits!!
Formed in 2013, Bandits have been playing their own brand of High Energy, Hip Hop styled Ska-Punk up and down the UK and Europe. Ripping up shows with their dance mat and hype man in tow, supporting the likes of King Prawn, Big D and Spunge. Hoping to Educate and Medicate the Youth of today with their Good Time Vibes and Party agenda.

The message is simple, the message is clear, Bandits are here to bring the party and you’re all invited!!

Smiling Ivy
Smiling Ivy is an explosive and outspoken band from Sheffield performing an energetic fusion of ska, reggae, punk, and hip-hop.

Since forming in 2007, the five-piece have effortlessly clashed activism and hedonism on records – offering fans an astute and socially-aware observation of the times.

Jammin’ funk ska beats like man machines on the brink of disaster, but never tipping the edge. Smiling Ivy is an untamed animal, enjoying the ride

Just Say Nay
The biggest thing out of Kent since Tom Johnston. Horny sixteen-legged skanking machine and logistical nightmare with more members than you can shake a stick at. Cooking up a tasty up-beat ska-punk stew, seasoned with hefty brass hooks, hectic basslines, blistering guitar solos and sweet sweet vox. We’ll melt your fucking face off and open our spitvalves down your neck. Fuck Yeah.

Boogedy Smak
Boogedy Smak are a 4 piece folk punk band mostly hailing from Kingston Upon Thames, London. Currently in the midst of recording new album called “Pay us to leave”… couldn’t be further from the truth.

Named after beer, fueled by beer.

Haggard Cat, Model Citizens, Rough Stone

Proudly presented by The Fighting Cocks Bar & Live Music Venue and Bangers Embrace Presents

Haggard Cat
From the ashes of one of the UK’s greatest live bands, Heck, comes Haggard Cat – a balls-out, batshit, rock ’n’ roll freight train.

Having already toured with the likes of Jamie Lenman – and soon FEED THE RHINO – as well as playing a headline slot at Camden Rocks and opening the main stage at ArcTanGent festival, HAGGARD CAT are now preparing for the highly-anticipated release of their new album ‘Challenger’ on April 20th through Earache Records.

Model Citizens
You know them, you’ve seen them, you know what they do. They’re gonna kick your arse, chop off your head and bury you out in the desert.

ROUGH STONE
This project began late August 2017, formerly as one man band and former Blue Carpet Band Drummer, starting to write songs taking inspiration from the 90s grunge scene, with a true punk attitude and free expression in the lyrics.

Unique raw sound with a strong impact using a slightly rough and innovative way to create our own music thats
loud, groovy and distorted with a touch of melody to the voice.

No strangers to the dingy, damp and dark back room of the Fighting Cocks, the Skinny Milk double come to deliver another blast of psychedelic, fuzzed up freak out garage rock!

And they’re joined once again by our Southend two man squad, Suspects on Cool Thing Records. If you need a refresher course… imagine if QOTSA released stuff in the early 90s.

And we welcome first timers GLOO to Kingston. Bratty Britrock from the southern coast. These guys are not to be missed… take our word for it. You’ve been warned.

Sinful Maggie, Scandal, The Drunken Ramblings FREE ENTRY

Presented by The Fighting Cocks Bar & Live Music Venue and Bangers Embrace Presents HM Queen Elizabeth II official birthday celebrations with-

Sinful Maggie – Formed in 2015 and set out to show people that you could have a punk band with an accordion and not play Folk, Gypsy or Celtic Punk. Brothers Charlie and Russ Draper had been writing together for years, but without a band, the songs remained unheard. With the addition of Briony Ireland, a rose between two thorns, and Ollie Beaton, the bloke who holds two sticks, the band was ready to take their fast and furious punk rock on the road playing along side bands like The Mistakes and Self Abuse, but have since shared bills with Maid of Ace, The Real McKenzies, The Rumjacks, Buzzcocks and Slaves. The band makes no bones about wearing their influences on their sleeves, often being likened to early Rancid with a bit of The Clash and some early Dropkick Murphys to boot, but that doesn’t mean they don’t bring something fresh to the scene.

The band’s self-titled debut album is out now on all major digital platforms and CD. They will be up and down the country all year so come and catch them in Kingston when they stop at The Fighting Cocks.

Support from Kingston oi punk trailblazers Scandal-streetpunk and making their FC debut are melodic street punks The Drunken Ramblings from West London oi oi!

Lets show ol’ Lizzie how the punks party!

Midwich Cuckoos, Harbour Sharks, You Win Again Gravity FREE ENTRY

Presented by The Fighting Cocks Bar & Live Music Venue and Bangers Embrace Presents

We welcome back Midwich Cuckoos for a headline show. After their insane night with Maid Of Ace, we couldn’t wait to get them back.

Explosive Rock’n rolling punk metal experiment put together by friends from around the world.

Theyll be joined by Kingstons Harbour Sharks – Harbour Sharks thematically diverse sound crosses the divide, ranging from heavy pop-punk to post-hardcore. The band are no strangers to the ups and downs of life and they reflect this through an honest, in your face delivery on stage.

And opening the evenings proceedings we have FC newbies You Win Again Gravity – YWAG are a post hardcore quintet from Windsor. They might be the only post hardcore quintet from Windsor, we don’t know for sure. Regardless, they’re playing Tech Fest this year, and recently did a music video with robots in it, because everyone loves robots. This is their first show with bass player Andy, and also their first show with guitarist Andy. They badly need a way to differentiate between the two Andys, and will gladly listen to suggestions.

Lets do this!
