Black Water County, Blood and Whiskey, Boogedy Smak FREE ENTRY

Bangers Embrace Presents and The Fighting Cocks Bar & Live Music Venue proudly present

Black Water County are finally coming to Kingston. The six-piece folk/punk band from Bournemouth have built a reputation as an exciting live act at festivals in recent years, and were runners up in the recent Fireball UK ‘Fueling The Fire Tour’ finals at the Islington O2. FFO Flogging Molly, Dropkick Murphy’s, Ferocious Dog, The Rumjacks, The Dreadnoughts and Reel Big Fish…

In support for the night we have Blood & Whiskey from Staines… think what would happen if you mixed Frank Turner, Dustin Kensrue, Brian Fallon, Bruce Springsteen, The Cure, Jimmy Eat World and Johnny Cash.

We’ll also be joined by Kingston folk punx Boogedy Smak… The group take their influences from all over, from metal to Blues, Crust-punk to country and display this in their music by the change of dynamics song to song. We love them.

Call Me Malcolm, Millie Manders & The Shut Up, The Foamers FREE ENTRY

Proudly presented by The Fighting Cocks Bar & Live Music Venue and Bangers Embrace Presents

Call Me Malcolm return for a headline show at The FC after opening for Bar Stool Preachers and The Lagan back in May and we’re ecstatic to have them back. A five piece ska/punk band from London, blending hard punk, a crunchy ska sound with three part harmonies. Originally inspired by the halcyon days of Goldfinger circa late 1900s, the band quickly evolved a harder, more sardonic, Random Hand style edge.

Millie Manders and The Shutup played one of the very first BE shows and we’ve been gagging to get her and her merry crew back. Millie creates cross-genre punk that is hard to ignore. With lyricism that pokes fun, draws you in or leaves you questioning social norms teamed with incredible vocal dexterity, grinding guitars, irresistible horn hooks and a pumping rhythm section, the Millie Manders Music Machine churns out more raw punk fusion than you can shake a stick at, with a huge amount of Pop appeal.

Local creatures The Foamers will be opening the the evening… playing old classics and the first brand new material in many years.

Burnt Tapes, Skiv, Swan Prince, Wonder Beers FREE ENTRY

Proudly presented by The Fighting Cocks Bar & Live Music Venue and Bangers Embrace Presents

An evening of 4 of the UKs best on the punk rock scene telling stories of days gone by and other strange tales of the sea.

The Burnt Tapes are a four-man tag team formed in 2014 in London. They play melodic punk rock/org-core/gruff/alcohol/farts/regret kinda music with limited woahs-and-ooohs! A pleasure to have them return to The Cocks.

We all know The Wonder Beers too well.. New style British punk/rock anthems, that make every day feel like a Friday night! Woo hoo!

Absolute joy to have FC first timers Swan Prince from Birmingham… Just 4 mates with a lame band name making skate punk songs. Est. 2017. They shared stages in recent months with Bad Cop/Bad Cop, The Murderburgers, The Bombpops and lets not forget their ongoing love affair with our openers for the evening SKIV – Booty twerkin, apathy shirkin, dorothy perkin punk rock since 2016.

“Now is no time to think of what you do not have.
Think of what you can do with what there is”

In Evil Hour, Scandal, Headsparks FREE ENTRY

Bangers Embrace Presents and The Fighting Cocks Bar & Live Music Venue presents unto you a Northern Invasion, a night of ferocious punk rock.

Pleased as punch to finally have In Evil Hour down from the North East in support of their recently released Lights Down album. Intelligent, political punk… imagine Rise Against caught in a twister with Bad Religion. Not bad.

Since the release of their debut album “On A Roll” we’ve seen Scandal-streetpunk go from strength to strength… playing in venues all over the UK including Undercover Fest in Margate and already lined up to play again next year.

Hailing from Woking, Surrey Headsparks channel their inner late 80s/early 90s UK punk like Leatherface, Snuff, Wat Tyler and US counterparts Husker Du. A great addition to an already sick line up. Not to be missed.

Anarchist reading group #4

Our reading group will continue on the 3rd Tuesday of the month, aka 21st August 7pm at Freedom Bookshop. This month we’re looking at culture, power and consumerism with the following texts on Situationism and the well decent band, Crass, in an article confusingly written by someone called Cross. Cross on Crass, then.

Matthews: An Introduction to the Situationists (https://theanarchistlibrary.org/library/jan-d-matthews-an-introduction-to-the-situationists.pdf)

Debord: Decomposition: The Ultimate Stage of Bourgeois Thought, In: Report on the Construction of Situations, p.6 (https://theanarchistlibrary.org/library/guy-debord-report-on-the-construction-of-situations.pdf)

Guy Debord: Chapter 8 – Negation and Consumption Within Culture, In: Society of the Spectacle, p.68-77 (https://theanarchistlibrary.org/library/guy-debord-the-society-of-the-spectacle.pdf)

Cross: “There Is No Authority But Yourself ”: The Individual and the Collective in British Anarcho-Punk (https://quod.lib.umich.edu/m/mp/9460447.0004.203/–there-is-no-authority-but-yourself-the-individual?rgn=main;view=fulltext)

Asomvel, Stiletto Farm, Flash House FREE ENTRY

Proudly presented by The Fighting Cocks Bar & Live Music Venue and Bangers Embrace Presents

Asomvel
A Dream To Some…A Nightmare To Others.

These guys calmly walk on, bludgeon your senses with a baseball bat and then retire to the bar, leaving you with what’s left of your mind in a pool in your pants.

“The best heavy metal has plenty of dirt under its fingernails: this lot must never be allowed to work in a food preparation area.” – Dom Lawson, The Guardian

Stiletto Farm
The last wish of a fallen friend, Stiletto Farm is ‘The most pissed off band in the world’. Taking the best the past has to offer; Elvis, Twisted Sister, The Damned, and everything in between, Stiletto Farm’s cuttingly relevant lyrics, create powerful anthems that shout out for the angry and misunderstood.

FLASH HOUSE
Loud, fast and aggressive. You know what they do and its an absolute pleasure to have them back at The Cocks.
