Buddha Blood
Buddha Blood formed at a New Year’s Eve party in 2012. Realising that they all shared a passion for psychedelic fuzz and dreamy melodies, they locked themselves away in a countryside cabin for nine months to develop a sound influenced by collective favourites such as Stone Roses, Brian Jonestown Massacre and Tame Impala. September 2013 saw them burst onto the Brighton scene supporting Night Beats, Cosmonauts and Holy Wave. Expect driving yet melodic riffs as well as whirling, spacey vocals.

The Get Rids
The Get Rids are a garage rock band from Brighton, formed a year ago through a shared desire to play live music and slowly ruin our hearing by playing too loud at band practice. With a shared love of bands such as Devo, Hot Snakes and Michael Jackson, they met when they were playing in various bands in the Brighton punk and hardcore scene. Once formed they spent a year rehearsing, telling everyone that they were honing their set, but in reality were too busy drinking. Having already had their first track ‘Smile’ played on BBC Introducing South and by Tom Robinson on BBC radio 6; they have a video for their title track ‘Smile’ made by a friend in the business and and Two EP’s out called ‘Move Juice’ and Mood Juice. The Album is Recorded and ready for release soon. Here’s a taste https://youtu.be/ZizRysJWMEA

The Insights
The Insights are a London based 3 piece garage rock band with strong 60’s influences, great rhythms and banging tunes. Working on new album out soon. Not to be missed!

The Facemelter: Zolle (Italy), Memory Of Elephants, Black Shape

Chaos Theory presents a night of incredible mathy punky jazzy noisey goodness in the August edition of their monthly night, brought to your ears from the recesses of Italy, Bristol and London

—————
Zolle

A manic, hard rock, math punk duo who create pristinely jarring beauty using copper drums and an aluminium guitar, and have just released their third album ‘Infesta’, recorded by Giulio Ragno Favero (Zu, Il Teatro degli Orrori, OvO, MoRkObOt, One Dimensional Man).

Sharing members with MoRkObOt, they’ve played alongside legends such as Obake, Zeus, Luminous Bodies, Casual Nun, Khünnt and Silent Front.

—————
Memory Of Elephants

A trio from Bristol who are insanely brilliant at making technically perfect math rock sound like noise and making noise rock sound like progressive perfection.

They absolutely killed it at The Facemelter last year and we can not wait to have them back!

—————
Black Shape

An awesome noise duo who have already kicked ass at The Windmill in Brixton. Born in the swamp three years ago, they’ve been trying to wade their way out ever since.

They’re recording a new EP with Wayne Adams at Bear Bites Horse Studio and will be launching it at The Facemelter!

Expect more scuzzy, sludgey noisey riffs.

Start: August 4, 2017 7:30 pm
End: August 4, 2017 11:00 pm
Venue: The Black Heart

The Jazz Market: MoRkObOt, Shitwife, Warren Schoenbright

Chaos Theory presents a night of heavy noise, math metal, avant-jazz, electronica, hardcore and all round incredible musicianship!

—————
MoRkObOt

A completely perplexing trio from Italy, who’ve been going for twelve years. Their insane manic sounds, coupled with supremely tight musicianship, makes sure that audiences are blasted with an experience unlike any other.

Their dual-bass low-end sound shakes off any notion of sterile technicality, yet they still manage to deliver a perfect sound of interlocking slides, slams and slippery beats.

Listen to their latest album ‘GoRgO’ and come to witness this tornado of malicious psychedelia.

“Somewhere in the vortex of molten bass and schizophrenic time-signatures there’s a solid groove at play.” – The Skinny

“An effervescent cocktail of metal heaviosity, befuddling complexity and giddy punk intensity.” – Echoes And Dust

—————
Sh*twife

One of the most technically proficient bands ever to grace the stink of London. With the immense electronic prowess of producer Wayne Adams (Bear Bites Horse Studio, Death Pedals) and the driving intricate beats of Henri Grimes, one of the best drummers we’ve ever witnessed, Sh*twife build up noisey hardcore sounds that are awesome to dance to and awesome to stand there slack-jawwed and watch.

We’ve followed them around DIY parties in London for ages, and can’t wait to hear more bangers by these understated audionuts.

“The reward here – and Sh*twife’s ultimate sell – is hearing rock instrumentation grind against synthetic noises in a sweaty, twisted duel.” – Resident Advisor

“A dark visceral sound that gathers together the rage of Atari Teenage Riot, and the ferocity of Motorhead all fed through a laptop stuck on the ‘Gabba’ setting.” – Louder Than War Magazine

—————
Warren Schoenbright

A three piece experimental noise band who’ve been skulking through London’s murky underbelly for several years.

The release of their fifth EP ‘Subtropical’, which is the band’s first on Hominid Sounds, charts a new, heavier and more dense sonic direction. The introduction of spoken word offers a non linear narrative to the textural strata created by electronic samples, bass guitar and live drums. ‘Subtropical’ beckons one into a dark, distorted, swarming nowhere place.

“A deeply textural live experience” – Ave Noctum

“A beautifully minimalist atmosphere through their use of delicate electronics that were punctuated with bursts of fury.” – UK Scumscene

End: June 9, 2017 11:00 pm
Venue: The Black Heart

Chaos Theory presents: 4 Card Trick

Ladies and gents! Chaos Theory presents a one-off special event packed with live music, film, spoken word, card games and other tricks, all draped in a haze of noir, blues, jazz and rock ‘n’ roll.

There will be an early opening treat for all of those in the café out front before the main performances begin…

Georges Kaplan Presents… with actor Phil Philmar: spoken word narratives of Georges with musical accompaniment and film projections. We will screen ‘Can’t Say It Is ‘Cause it Ain’t’ (90 seconds) and ‘How it All Began’ (2:41) followed by a montage of old films. There will be covers of Twin Peaks songs for the second half of this set.

The EP will be sold as download codes on custom-made playing cards.

Main venue space:
———————
Jonny Halifax and The Howling Truth

Rock ‘n’ roll punk blues filtered through a psychedelic swamp.

Jonny Halifax (vocals, lap steel, harmonica, rhythm machine) and musical partner Marvin (guitar and percussion) conjure an unholy brew of Suicide, Captain Beefheart and sonic drone.

They’ve collaborated with Mark Lanegan and Duke Garwood, have supported or toured with The Jim Jones Revue, Bob Log III, The Magic Band, Henry’s Funeral Shoe, Orange Goblin, HECK, Endless Boogie, Bad Guys, Cult Of Dom Keller, and have been well received at festivals ranging between Freakshow Fest (France), Glastonbury and Deep Blues Festival (US).

Described as akin to prime Black Sabbath re-tooling the Delta blues in a deserted Black Country steelworks, with Hammer horror appeal, expect murky scuzz and catchy riffs.

“Incredibly enjoyable” – MetalRecusants

———————
Georges Kaplan Presents… (EP launch)

A musical duo hailing from London’s gnarled and twisting streets, who in all things take their cue from their leader Georges Kaplan.

Careering across the boundaries of blues, jazz, noir and punk, this piano and saxophone duo create a delightfully seedy atmosphere, calling back to the time of steamy alleys and underground hideaways.

One of the first bands to play at The Jazz Market in 2010, it will be great to see them launch their new EP ’4 Card Trick’ tonight.

———————
Snack Family

This trio have been creating an unapologetic and relentlessly driving sound since 2011, and have recently been joined by Adam Betts (Three Trapped Tigers) on drums.

Their sound of timeless, menacing power is a rare combination of time-honoured rock ‘n’ roll antics, wholesome illustrative songwriting and blinding musicianship. Their raw, monster trucking, sexy terrain captures the spirit of Captain Beefheart, Muddy Waters and Albert Ayler at his funkiest, to brutal effect.

Having released two EPs: ‘Belly’ and ‘Pokie Eye’ in 2014; Snack Family have toured the UK and shared bills with the likes of Nissenenmondai, Gallon Drunk, Evil Blizzard, The Cesarians, Hot Head Show, Cowtown, Peluché, Eagulls, Dead Rider, Get the Blessing and many others; and appeared at Wickerman, Threadfest, Match & Fuse and Larmer Tree festivals.

Snack Family have recently finished their debut full length album: ‘Bunny’; which is hoped for a 2017 release.

“Replete with gravelly drumbeats, striptease guitars and the most gut-twisting Sax we’ve heard in yonks” – NME

“If Nick Cave was the lead singer of Morphine it would have sounded like Snack Family.” Noisey

“An unlikely middle ground between Battles and The Birthday Party.” The Quietus
