Hastings grease-rock power trio THE ADMIRAL SIR CLOUDSLEY SHOVELL are coming back to London – and unlike a lot of cabbies they don’t mind going south of the river!
Hot on the heels of the release of their acclaimed third album ‘Keep it Greasy’, The Admiral are bringing their fuzz, riffs and pints of Watney’s Red Barrel to the AMERSHAM ARMS in NEW CROSS.
Expect head-shaking rhythms, riffs that’ll bury their way deep into your brain and the sort of genuine curly-lead, valve-amp, heads-down rock ‘n’ roll you’ve only read about in books! Support comes from SPIRIT OF THE AGE, who’ll be doing a full set of Hawkwind and Robert Calvert classics to get you into the right frame of mind, and RITES OF HADDA a new and emerging band whose sound has been described as ‘anarcho-pagan-gothic-stoner-punk’.
Doors are 7pm, and tickets are a mere £6 if you buy them ahead of time (£8 on the door).
Your nearest stations are NEW CROSS & NEW CROSS GATE. What else are you going to do with your Sunday evening? Watch The Antiques Roadshow? Forget that! Come on out and get ready to bang your head until your neck muscles beg for mercy.

The Fighting Cocks finally presents unto you an evening of duos, couples and twosomes, if you will.
It seems less is more these days and we’re going to let these three bands prove it.
We excitedly welcome back SKiNNY MiLK from Brighton. These two fuzzy psychonauts have played for us on various occasions including last years NYE party. Since then they have played and blasted every watering hole and venue in the UK, including being the backing band for Castle Face Records’ Male Gaze on their UK and Euro tour last month. Be sure to have your ear plugs in deep and your mouth guards in. You’ve been warned.
Support comes from Kingstons finest, Model Citizens. Beating you down with desert rock vibes, uncompromising charm and good looks.
And doubly excited to introduce Southends partners in crime, Suspects. We don’t know how these two have managed to stay under the radar for so long… But we’re glad they finally surfaced. Get down early to witness their shear power of punk and grunge rock.

Let us take you back to March 2000: We had just entered the new Millenium awaiting flying cars and hover boards, Bill Clinton was President of the USA and Blink 182s All The Small Things was kept off the Number 1 spot by Geri Halliwell. It was also the same year we opened the doors to you ‘orrible lot at The Fighting Cocks and so finally, the day has come… Our 18th year at The Fighting Cocks… so what better way to celebrate than with one of our good ol’ fashioned bottle breaking tear up!
We’ve smashed ourselves to get this little shindig together and we cant wait to celebrate this milestone with each and every one of you.
So whats on the agenda we hear you ask. Well…
Taking the stage we’ve got the one and only Henri Herbert And The Fury. The former Jim Jones Revue pianist has been busting pianos all over the world in recent years and we’re utterly honored to have him and his crew don our grubby little stage. Lets boogie woogie!
In support we welcome back the rock n roll drum and guitar duo The Love Me Tenders. They seem to be playing relentlessly recently and we’re stoked they’ve taken time out of their busy schedule to party with us.
And if that’s not enough… we also have BBC Music Introducing darlings KIT TRIGG to kick you into shape with some cool as all hell blues rock.
Thirsty for more? Well, to keep you warm we’ll be throwing around some free shots from our sponsors Fireball UK Whisky!
Late bar till 1am
Bring ID to avoid disappointment.

The Fighting Cocks and Bangers Embrace invite you to the first gig of 2018 and its a cracker! FREE ENTRY FREE ENTRY FREE ENTRY with late bar till 1am!
Raw power injected rock ‘n’ roll fronted by Los Angeles blues punk siren, Lily Marlene featuring JD KickDrum on the drums, the elusive Jared Fisher on lead guitar and garage rock stylings from James Meynell on bass. Expect a lethal dose of Russ Meyer-moto babe-psychedelic-garage-punk-madness!
Buddha Blood formed at a New Year’s Eve party in 2012. Realising that they all shared a passion for psychedelic fuzz and dreamy melodies, they locked themselves away in a countryside cabin for nine months to develop a sound influenced by collective favourites such as Stone Roses, Brian Jonestown Massacre and Tame Impala. September 2013 saw them burst onto the Brighton scene supporting Night Beats, Cosmonauts and Holy Wave. Expect driving yet melodic riffs as well as whirling, spacey vocals.
The Get Rids
The Get Rids are a garage rock band from Brighton, formed a year ago through a shared desire to play live music and slowly ruin our hearing by playing too loud at band practice. With a shared love of bands such as Devo, Hot Snakes and Michael Jackson, they met when they were playing in various bands in the Brighton punk and hardcore scene. Once formed they spent a year rehearsing, telling everyone that they were honing their set, but in reality were too busy drinking. Having already had their first track ‘Smile’ played on BBC Introducing South and by Tom Robinson on BBC radio 6; they have a video for their title track ‘Smile’ made by a friend in the business and and Two EP’s out called ‘Move Juice’ and Mood Juice. The Album is Recorded and ready for release soon. Here’s a taste https://youtu.be/ZizRysJWMEA
The Insights are a London based 3 piece garage rock band with strong 60’s influences, great rhythms and banging tunes. Working on new album out soon. Not to be missed!
