Hear Me Howl – gig theatre

Lights Down Productions present – HEAR ME HOWL, a one woman, rowdy as hell piece of gig-theatre like no other.

Jess is turning 30 and she’s just discovered punk. Some might say punk is dead, others would say she should really stick to the day job, but the resounding concern is: shouldn’t she be concentrating on settling down by now?
The play explores the characters journey via her discovery of punk music (& punk philosophy) and her story is told from behind and with the help of a drum kit and defiant, with drumsticks in hands, Jess lurches into an unknown future, one where she throws convention to the wind, and questions how much autonomy those with a womb really do have, here in the western world.

It promises to be a very punk, DIY performance, half gig/half spoken word, full rage! Through learning about punk Jess finds a way to express her anger at what society expects from her and she rages against the path her life is on.

We are at Landor Space, Clapham, South London 7th, 8th and 9th March at 7:30pm and 9th March at 2:30pm.

Tickets £10 full price, £8 concessions

King Salami and the Cumberland 3

In 2006, one Japanese, one French, one Caribbean and one Spanish got together to form a black rhythm & blues party band!

London’s newest R&B-punk sensation are making fun times where ever they go. With a repertoire encompassing many of the greats of the ’50s and ’60s you won’t be able to help but move your feet. The King howls like Screaming Jay Hawkins with Bo Diddley chasing his coat-tail and with Andre Williams trying to offer up some of his bacon fat. This man never stops shakin’ and twistin’ and groovin’ while the Cumberland 3 (former members of the Ulcers, Chinese Lungs and Parkinsons) play their own branded mix of vintage rockabilly desperate rock’n'roll and a bit of soul with fire, energy, gusto and fun!

They have played all around the world, from Europe to Japan, USA, Australia, Turkey, China,… sharing the stage with the Pretty Things, the Trashmen, the Standells, the Mummies, the Bellrays, the Cynics, etc…and have released a bunch of killer 45′s on different European record labels. Their first full lenght album is now out on Dirty Water records!

King Salami & the Cumberland Three have toured all over Europe, Japan, China, Australia, and the USA! Their 2nd album “cookin’ up a party” was released on Dirty Water records (UK), Disk Union (Japan) & Off the Hip (Australia) in january 2013.

Scrappy, smelly, melodic… punk!

With members figuring at the frontline of the London punk scene, Scraps got put together out of boredom…

Liam started jamming with Bobby in December 2013. Songs got written and the hunt for a drummer begun.
At a gig in camden we bumped into Kris Hood and after a fag and a discussion of shoes he was in!

With no budget we spray painted some t-shirts to sell at our shows and some of the sleeves for our EP are handmade, one of a kind.

Music is art but as a band you’ve got the power to make so much more then “just” music. We love the fact that we are able to express ourselvs however we want.

If its about being heartbroken or in love, that the society gone wrong or if its just about that great night out the other day all says something about us and how we feel as young guys living in London trying to make the most out of life.

With an energetic stage show we have so much fun playing live and to us its important that the crowd have a good time as well as us, to feed off each other.

One chromosome rock’n'roll machine from exotic New Zealand!!! His music is the audible expression of his internal and eternal struggle. See the demon fight his inner demons!!!… Is he man or merely conscious primordial ooze?!!! Inventor of the music of the future “GLUE WAVE”. Hear the howl!! Feel the sound, taste the sight and smell your eyes, this is the ungodly product of too much fried chicken, late night T.V and Terminal Elvis addiction…. The one, the only… SCUMLORD
