COURTESY GROUP – Think Birthday Party meets Captain Beefheart and you won’t be far off. In town to launch their long awaited follow up to the acclaimed Tradesman’s Entrance album their second LP is entitled Second City Liquor and contains all the usual sonic bluster and acerbic wit you’ve come to expect.
“Here’s Hutchins, the howling faggot and pea-fuelled visionary, vindicated at last, and at his finest where precipitous and sluggardly guitars fabricate a kind of psychedelic drizzle, a dying sun glimpsed through an industrial smog.” Stewart Lee/ THE SUNDAY TIMES****
“Blue-collar Brummie Beefheart, mighty mangled tunes and riffage, great lyrics and attitude, a fine name: what more do you want from a group ?!” John Cooper Clarke.
THE DRIFT – Garage punk ensemble with a hint of Pixie-esque grit back on home turf to push their new CD of fiercely digested garage punk nuggets. Ex Deptford Beach Babes & Probing Cranks.
LOFE – Wholegrain and far from seeded and rising fast in the south yeast. Avant beats, elastic band bass and a lavish dollop of Quobble & speak. Ex Brain Of Morbius & One True Dog well and truly off the leash

Ham Legion play a collision of beaming up beat power pop, with grinding grungy outbursts, dramatic changes of mood, tonnes of vocals, sudden passages of twistingly epic prog then moments of restrained delivery and somber reflection. https://ham-legion.bandcamp.com

Club Geoff presents a new night of experimental alternative sounds with The Infinite Three (hypnotic psychedelic post-punk cosmic idiocy from ex-members of Cindytalk and GOD), Nasty Little Lonely (industrial post punk noisy stuff from Bristol) and Electric Elizabeth (investigative sounds from metal buckets, field recordings and beyond).

Becoming///Animal (members of Zu/This Mortal Coil/Cindytalk), The Brain Center at Whipple’s, Mark Dicker
Chaos Theory proudly presents Becoming /// Animal, a new project by amazing collaborative duo Massimo Pupillo of Zu, and Gordon Sharp of Cindytalk and This Mortal Coil.
Their first album “A Distant Hand Lifted”, an intense, filtered orchestra that roars and hisses, becoming one with magnificent haunting vocals, has just been released by Trost Records.
The Brain Center at Whipple’s, an experimental semi-improvisational trio who use noise and electronics shamelessly. Last seen by us when they DJed at Mouse On The Keys, Mutiny on the Bounty and Strobes at Rich Mix last year.
Mark Dicker of Bruxa Maria and Palehorse, performing his solo project, rife with heavy electronic sounds and audio experimentation.

The Fighting Cocks and Bangers Embrace invite you to the first gig of 2018 and its a cracker! FREE ENTRY FREE ENTRY FREE ENTRY with late bar till 1am!
Raw power injected rock ‘n’ roll fronted by Los Angeles blues punk siren, Lily Marlene featuring JD KickDrum on the drums, the elusive Jared Fisher on lead guitar and garage rock stylings from James Meynell on bass. Expect a lethal dose of Russ Meyer-moto babe-psychedelic-garage-punk-madness!
Buddha Blood formed at a New Year’s Eve party in 2012. Realising that they all shared a passion for psychedelic fuzz and dreamy melodies, they locked themselves away in a countryside cabin for nine months to develop a sound influenced by collective favourites such as Stone Roses, Brian Jonestown Massacre and Tame Impala. September 2013 saw them burst onto the Brighton scene supporting Night Beats, Cosmonauts and Holy Wave. Expect driving yet melodic riffs as well as whirling, spacey vocals.
The Get Rids
The Get Rids are a garage rock band from Brighton, formed a year ago through a shared desire to play live music and slowly ruin our hearing by playing too loud at band practice. With a shared love of bands such as Devo, Hot Snakes and Michael Jackson, they met when they were playing in various bands in the Brighton punk and hardcore scene. Once formed they spent a year rehearsing, telling everyone that they were honing their set, but in reality were too busy drinking. Having already had their first track ‘Smile’ played on BBC Introducing South and by Tom Robinson on BBC radio 6; they have a video for their title track ‘Smile’ made by a friend in the business and and Two EP’s out called ‘Move Juice’ and Mood Juice. The Album is Recorded and ready for release soon. Here’s a taste https://youtu.be/ZizRysJWMEA
The Insights are a London based 3 piece garage rock band with strong 60’s influences, great rhythms and banging tunes. Working on new album out soon. Not to be missed!
