Stand Up for The Elephant

Tax avoiding property giant Delancey and University of the Arts London (UAL) have partnered for a development plan which will see the Elephant and Castle Shopping Centre demolished and replaced with luxury housing and a new building for UAL’s London College of Communication (LCC) turfing out the working class and largely Latin traders and wider community from the Elephant. This is social cleansing and would only result in the further gentrification of Southwark.

In January Southwark’s Planning Committee rejected the plan after community pressure. Later that month the committee re-met to decide and submit their reasons for refusal but widespread opposition and scrutiny pressured Delaney into postponing
the final vote till the summer and later making some concessions including an increase in the social housing commitment and assurance the bingo would remain.

This is testament to what’s possible when we organise and take action but
there’s still a long way to go and much to win, 7% social housing is an
increase but still shamefully low.

The vote on the revised development plan is likely to take place in July so this is our final opportunity to once again come together, make our demands known and push for a vital increase in social housing, affordable retail units and compensation for all traders and meaningful involvement and accountability for the people who live, work and study in the Elephant.

They’re coming back to London at the end of the tour! If you saw them the other day, you know you want to catch them again. If you missed out, here’s your chance to rectify that.
“A brief but dense dose of simply hulking intense turmoil. Subtle terminology is trite, so to get to the point: S.H.I.T., the LP, blurs by in under twenty minutes of thrashing hardcore gristle. Gone are the tell-tale training wheels of delayed vocals and endless layers of feedback, here now are the tighter louder songs we’d hoped S.H.I.T. would write. A piercing musical rallying cry for the listless and ever approaching bulldoze march of the future, wrapped in cellophane transfers of melted early hardcore and the best of the last decade’s fresh take on simplicity and power.”

Haggard Cat, Model Citizens, Rough Stone

Proudly presented by The Fighting Cocks Bar & Live Music Venue and Bangers Embrace Presents

Haggard Cat
From the ashes of one of the UK’s greatest live bands, Heck, comes Haggard Cat – a balls-out, batshit, rock ’n’ roll freight train.

Having already toured with the likes of Jamie Lenman – and soon FEED THE RHINO – as well as playing a headline slot at Camden Rocks and opening the main stage at ArcTanGent festival, HAGGARD CAT are now preparing for the highly-anticipated release of their new album ‘Challenger’ on April 20th through Earache Records.

Model Citizens
You know them, you’ve seen them, you know what they do. They’re gonna kick your arse, chop off your head and bury you out in the desert.

This project began late August 2017, formerly as one man band and former Blue Carpet Band Drummer, starting to write songs taking inspiration from the 90s grunge scene, with a true punk attitude and free expression in the lyrics.

Unique raw sound with a strong impact using a slightly rough and innovative way to create our own music thats
loud, groovy and distorted with a touch of melody to the voice.
